Sinopsis / Synopsis

Julio de 1971: Christian Ravel, piloto de motocicleta francés en pleno ascenso, se dirige a Bélgica para ganar el Gran Premio Internacional de Francorchamps. Su motor se avería cerca de la casa de Niki de Saint Phalle, donde la encuentra creando su última obra de arte. Las pocas horas que pasan juntos, observándose, nos hacen sumergirnos en un mundo de ensueño.

July 1971: Christian Ravel, the French rising star motorcycle pilot, is heading to Belgium to win the Francorchamps International Grand Prix. His engine brakes down in the neighborhood of Niki de Saint Phalle's house, where he finds her creating her latest art work. These few hours they spend together, observing each other, make us dive in a dreamlike world.

STÉPHANIE VARELA (Versalles, FRANCIA, 1980). “1971, Motorcycle Heart”, una bioficción sobre Niki De Saint-Phalle, es su tercer cortometraje basado en la vida de un artista. Residente en París y especializada en Motion Painting, incorpora esta técnica de animación a su práctica como pintora y directora de cine. Su trabajo abarca diversas áreas: videoarte contemporáneo, documentales, series web, videoclips, comerciales, performances, historia del cine y animación. Su obra ha sido valorada positivamente, entre otros, por David Lynch y Serge Bromberg.

STÉPHANIE VARELA (Versailles, FRANCE, 1980). “1971, Motorcycle Heart”, a biofiction short on Niki De Saint-Phalle, is Stephanie Varela's third film based on the life of a painter. Living in Paris and specialising in Motion Painting, she incorporates this animation technique in her practice as a painter and film director. Her range covers contemporary art films, documentaries, web series, music and advertising videos, Performance Art, history of cinema and animation. Her work has been favorably noticed by, among others, David Lynch and Serge Bromberg.
