Sinopsis / Synopsis

A través de tres vidas y tres generaciones (Rebeca, Massiel y Christian) Distancias se aproxima a la opción individual de permanecer en Cuba. A pesar de que la mayoría de los seres queridos esté fuera del país. A pesar también de haber tenido una oportunidad real para abandonar la isla. Permanecer por amor, por convicción, por la voluntad de hacerlo, porque otros lo han decidido en tu lugar. Es justamente esta decisión la que conforma el reto que asumen nuestros protagonistas: aprender a vivir siendo la persona en la que uno se convierte a partir de la nueva vida de ausencias.

Through three lives and three generations (Rebeca, Massiel and Christian), Distances grapples with the individual's choice to remain in Cuba, although most loved ones are overseas, and despite having had the opportunity to leave the island. Remaining for love, conviction, by the will to do so, or because others have decided for you. Learning to live as the new person one has become in reaction to the new state of separation from loved ones.

Biofilmografia / Biofilmography

MARIONA GUIU (Barcelona, 04/05/1980) Licenciada en Humanidades, vive y trabaja en Melbourne. Empezó trabajando como redactora en distintos programas de televisión. Ha dirigido varios videoclips, vídeos para Internet y la serie documental ‘Revelados’ para Biography Channel. ‘Mejor con canciones’, co-dirigido junto a Ariadna Relea, fue su primer corto documental. ‘Distancias’ nace tras cursar el taller de documental en la Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión en Cuba.
LINA BADENES (Valencia, 15/01/1984)) Licenciada en Comunicación Audiovisual, amplía posteriormente sus estudios en producción y realización. En 2004 viaja a Holanda e Italia, empezando su incursión laboral en el documental social, que la ha llevado a rodar en Uruguay, Argentina y Cuba. Vuelve a España en 2007 y funda Turanga Films, en dónde trabaja abordando dos frentes: el de la producción en ficción y realización en documental.

MARIONA GUIU (Barcelona, Spain, 05/04/1980) Graduated in Humanities, lives and works in Melbourne, she started as a screenwriter for different TV programs. Later she directed several music videos, Internet videos, and the documentary series ‘Revelados’ for The Biography Channel. ‘Mejor con canciones’ (Better with songs) was her first short documentary, co-directed with Ariadna Relea. ‘Distancias’ was born after attending a Documentary Course in the Internacional Film School in Cuba.
LINA BADENES (Valencia, Spain, 01/15/1984) Graduated in Audiovisual Communication, after that she attended postgraduated studies in production and direction. In 2004 went to Holland and Italy, starting to get involved with social documentaries. From that moment on, she’s been filming around Uruguay, Argentina and Cuba. Back in Spain in 2007, created Turanga Films, from where she works in two surroundings: fiction production and documentary direction.
