Sinopsis / Synopsis

Una historia real: hace unos años en Valencia compré un bolso por un euro en una subasta informal nocturna. Cuando llegué a casa, al abrirlo, vi que en su interior había muchos papeles y, entre ellos, dos cartas sin enviar fechadas en 1946. En ellas, el autor anuncia su inminente suicidio como consecuencia de las secuelas de la guerra, la cárcel y la pérdida de sus seres queridos. El último abrazo es un documental en el que registramos la investigación que nos lleva desde el hallazgo hasta descubrir quién fue el autor y qué le llevó a querer suicidarse.

A true story: some years ago, I paid one euro for a handbag in an informal auction in Valencia. When I came home, I found inside the handbag lots of papers. Amongst them, two letters dated 1946, unsent. Their author announced his imminent suicide, due to the negative effects of war, prison and the lost of his family. «El último abrazo» («The last embrace») is a short documentary film about our research, from the moment we found the letters until we find out who had written these letters, what had driven him to take his own life and why were both letters together and unsent.

SERGI PITARCH GARRIDO (València, 23/01/1976) Se licencia en Periodismo. Realiza el curso de Altos Estudios en Construcción Documental en el Campo Audiovisual en la Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión de Cuba. De 2004 a 2014 trabaja como guionista para diferentes productoras audiovisuales guionizando programas de televisión en España. En 2007 entra a trabajar en RTVV, donde desarrolla su faceta de guionista en diferentes programas de producción propia. De 2010 a 2013 crea y dirige la serie documental “De temporada” en RTVV. Ha escrito los cortometrajes “Un año y un día”, “Diec18cho” e “Indígenes”.

SERGI PITARCH GARRIDO (València, SPAIN, 01/23/1976) Bachelor of Journalism. Advance Course in Documentary Creation at the International School of Film and Television in Cuba. For 10 years (2004-2014), I worked as a scriptwriter for several TV programmes in Spain. In 2007 I started to work in RTVV (Valencian State Radio Television), developing my skills as a writer in many in-house productions . Whilst working for RTVV, I created and directed «De temporada», a documentary series on farming and agriculture (2010-2013). I am also scriptwriter of the following short films: «Un año y un día», «Diec18cho» and «Indígenes».
