Sinopsis / Synopsis

Siete años después. En un inhóspito lugar, inmerso en las arenas de las marismas y rodeado por el tibio rumor de los bosques, un pueblo entero se juramenta cada día, consagrándose al único fin de proteger, custodiar y venerar la imagen de una virgen, principio y fin de sus vidas. El lado oscuro trata de mostrar el terrible entramado de sentimientos y pasiones que convergen en esta singular relación forjada generación tras generación.

Seven years later… An inhospitable place, immersed into the sand of marshes and surrounded by the light murmur of the forest, there is a whole village swearing every day, devoting itself to the sole aim of protect, watch over and worship the statue of a virgin – beginning and end of their lives. The Dark Side, tries to show the terrible mix of feelings and passions around this particular relationship forged generation after generation.

MANUEL JIMÉNEZ (Málaga, 26/06/1973) Licenciado en Comunicación Audiovisual por la Universidad de Málaga. En 2006 dirige su primer largometraje documental, LA ALDEA PERDIDA, estrenado en Sección Oficial en el IDFA, ganador del Primer Premio del Jurado en DOCUMENTA MADRID y Representante de España en la Primera Muestra de Cine Documental ESPAÑA-CHINA en Beijing y Shanghai. Después dirige HOMBRES DE SAL, Segundo Premio del Jurado en DOCUMENTA MADRID, Premio RTVA en ALCANCES, Primer Premio del Jurado en ALMERÍA EN CORTO, Película inaugural del Mediteran Film Festival y Representante de España en DOC_EUROPA. Y EL PÉSIMO ACTOR MEXICANO Sección Oficial de DOCUMENTA MADRID y Película Conmemorativa del 25º Aniversario del Teatro Cervantes. Su cuarto trabajo: LA ALDEA PERDIDA: EL LADO OSCURO, se estrena en el Festival Internacional de Cine de Huesca, donde gana el Premio Especial del Jurado, premio al que sigue el Primer Premio del Jurado en la Muestra Cinematográfica del Atlántico ALCANCES. Su último documental: PROYECTO MÁGICO, fue la película inaugural de la Muestra Cinematográfica del Atlántico ALCANCES.

MANUEL JIMÉNEZ (Málaga, Spain, 06/26/1973) A B. A. in Audiovisual Communications from the University of Malaga. In 2006 he directed his first full-length documentary, THE LOST VILLAGE, which made its world premiere in the official selection of the IDFA, won First Jury Prize at DOCUMENTA MADRID and Spanish Representative at First Documentary Cinema Sample SPAIN-CHINA in Beijing and Shanghai. After, he directed THE SALT MEN, Jury Second Prize at DOCUMENTA MADRID, RTVA Award at ALCANCES, Jury First Prize at ALMERÍA EN CORTO, Official Opening Film at Mediteran Film Festival and Spanish Representarive at DOC_EUROPA. And THE TERRIBLE MEXICAN ACTOR, which made its world premiere in the official selection of DOCUMENTA MADRID and was selected Commemorative Film in the 25th Anniversary of the Cervantes Theatre. His fourth work: THE LOST VILLAGE: THE DARK SIDE, which made its world premiere in the HUESCA INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL, where won the Special Jury Prize and Jury First Prize at the Muestra Cinematográfica del Atlántico ALCANCES. His last documentary: MAGIC PROJECT, was the Official Opening Film at the Muestra Cinematográfica del Atlántico ALCANCES.
