Sinopsis / Synopsis

Al huir de la guerra con los Khmer Rojos, Ngoc, de ocho años, logra sobrevivir a una odisea en bote que dura tres semanas. Gracias a la humanidad de una familia de Austria, se integra en la sociedad austríaca y se convierte en un reconocido médico de TCM. Cuarenta años más tarde, decide prestar asistencia médica a los refugiados que llegan en barco a la isla de Lesbos. Allí se da cuenta de que su propio destino se repite en esta nueva generación de refugiados y se abren viejas heridas. En un intento por reencontrar paz, comienza con su familia una difícil búsqueda de su propio pasado ...

When fleeing from the war with the Red Khmer, eight-years-old Ngoc manages to survive alone a three weeks boat odyssey. Thanks to the humanity of an Austrian family, he gets integrated into the Austrian society and becomes a renown TCM doctor. Forty years later, he decides to give medical aid to arriving boat refugees on Lesbos island. There he realises that his own destiny gets repeated in the faith of this new generation of refugees and old wounds burst open. In an intent to find peace again, he starts with his family a difficult search for his own past...

NATALIE HALLA (Linz, AUSTRIA, 1975). Estudió Derecho y Traducción (ruso, y español) en la Universidad de Graz y pasó un semestre en Valladolid con el programa Erasmus. Escribió su tesis de Derecho en la Universidad de Jerusalén, por la que recibió un premio a la excelencia. A los 22 años, se unió a un programa interno de las Naciones Unidas de prevención de drogas en Perú. Después de varios años de estudios y trabajo en Francia y España, se ha especializado en la dirección y producción de documentales, en los que refleja su visión y experiencia personal: "Drugmothers" (2010), "Gaelle" (2012), "Separated" (2012), "The Heir of Liszt" (2014), "Children of the Forest" (2015), "Life in Four Elements" (2017) y "Nowhere" (2018).

NATALIE HALLA (Linz, AUSTRIA, 1975). She studied Law and Translation (Russian nd Spanish) at Karl-Franzens University of Graz and spent one semester with the Erasmus program in Valladolid (Spain). She wrote her thesis in law at the Jerusalem University on “Implementation of Human Rights on the Example of Freedom of Religion in Israel”, for which she got an award for excellency. At the age of 22, she became an intern of the United Nations Drug Control Program in Peru.
