Sinopsis / Synopsis

"Santa Ana" es un art-doc de terror sobre el misterioso vínculo entre el mal y los infames Vientos de Santa Ana. El "Viento Rojo" se origina en el desierto y atraviesa las costas del sur de California. La leyenda cuenta que estos vientos extremadamente secos causan drásticos cambios de humor entre los habitantes de Los Ángeles, provocando tensiones y comportamientos coléricos. A medio camino entre el documental y el videoarte experimental, la película es una colección de alegorías visuales y testimonios de los habitantes del desierto. Sus relatos, junto con referencias visuales a películas de terror clásicas, así como a obras literarias de autores como Joan Didion y Raymond Chandler, asoman al espectador al sombrío paisaje formado por esta perversa fuerza natural.

"Santa Ana" is a devilish horror art-doc that elucidates the mysterious link between evil and the infamous Santa Ana Winds. The "Red Wind" originates in the desert and blows through the coastal Southern California. Legend has it that these extremely dry down-slope hot airs cause drastic mood swings among Angelenos, sparking tensions and uneasy wrathful human behaviors. Part documentary, part experimental video art, the film is a collection of visual allegories and testimonials from denizens of the deserts. Their bloodcurdling accounts, coupled with visual references from classic horror films, as well as literary works from authors like Joan Didion and Raymond Chandler, give the viewer a glimpse into the bleak landscape shaped by this wicked natural force.

CÉSAR PESQUERA (Valladolid, ESPAÑA, 1976) nunca quiso ser director, pero recuerda vívidamente que, cuando era un niño, iba a sesiones de cine al aire libre con su padre. Ahora hace películas, dirige vídeos musicales y comerciales, y escribe. Su trabajo combina la gramática del cine con el gusto por la conceptualización y la experimentación.

CÉSAR PESQUERA (Valladolid, SPAIN, 1976) never wanted to be a director but remembers very vividly as a kid going to open air cinema sessions with his dad. Now he passionately makes films, directs music videos and commercials and writes. His work combines the grammar of cinema with a taste for conceptualization and experimentation.
