Sinopsis / Synopsis

Yaya es una joven con síndrome de Down cansada de ser ignorada e infantilizada por todos a su alrededor. Trabajando en el almacén de su tío, Yaya se hace amiga de Génesis, una adolescente rebelde que le propone hacerse un tatuaje juntas, desafiándola a liberarse de su restringida rutina.

Yaya is a young woman with Down syndrome who is tired of being ignored and infantilized by everyone around her. While working at her uncle’s grocery store, Yaya befriends Genesis, a rebellious teenager who proposes getting a tattoo together, challenging her to break free from her restricted routine.

LETICIA AKEL (Santiago, Chile, 10/12/1988) Guionista y directora chilena con un MFA en Cine de Columbia University. Sus cortometrajes han sido seleccionados y premiados en numerosos festivales internacionales, incluyendo Palm Springs ShortFest, Aspen ShortsFest, Seattle International Film Festival, y Cinélatino Rencontres de Toulouse. Su más reciente cortometraje “Premonición” recibió el Premio Cacho Pallero en el Festival Internacional de Cine de Huesca, junto a cuatro menciones especiales en otros certámenes. Actualmente, Leticia co-escribe “Malpelo”, un largometraje financiado por Sloan Foundation, y apoyado por organizaciones como Sundance Institute, Film Independent y Cine Qua Non Lab.

LETICIA AKEL (Santiago, Chile, 10/12/1988) Chilean screenwriter and director with an MFA in Film from Columbia University. Her short films have been selected and awarded at numerous international festivals, including Palm Springs ShortFest, Aspen ShortsFest, Seattle International Film Festival, and Cinélatino Rencontres de Toulouse.
