Born 1992 in Rendsburg, Schleswig-Holstein, Gerrit was interested in movies and television early on in his youth. Several movies followed during his time in school, culminating in a 40-minute drama that premiered at a local cinema. After finishing school, he moved to Hamburg – still his hometown - to study movie direction. After finishing he started working as a script supervisor. The different productions lead him to work in several European countries and in Asia. His last shortfilm “shettered” (2018) was shown internationally at numerous festivals and won the “best editing award” at the “The Buddha International Film Festival” in India.
