Despite controversy and threats, Muslim spiritual leader Ani Zonneveld takes a stand for justice through activism and a progressive practice of Islam. Enduring threats, excommunication from family, and opposition from many fellow Muslims, she insists that the Qur'an is a progressive text and believes in an egalitarian view of Islam.

Nacido y criado en Kuwait, Omar Al Dakheel se mudó a los EE. UU. a los 17 años después de recibir una beca por mérito en la Universidad de Miami. Después de graduarse con una licenciatura en artes teatrales y una licenciatura en periodismo de radiodifusión, obtuvo su maestría en la Escuela de Artes Cinematográficas de la USC, donde se sumergió en todos los aspectos de la realización de películas. Omar hizo "Jihad en Hollywood", con Werner Herzog, que ganó el Gran Premio del Jurado en el Festival de Cine de Kuwait. También dirigió "Al Imam", que se planea proyectar en el Festival de Cine de Cannes 2019. Su última película narrativa "Ablución" se estrenó localmente en el Festival de Cine Outfest. Omar tiene su sede en Los Ángeles. Actualmente está terminando su primer largometraje para Al Jazeera Documentary. Born and raised in Kuwait, Omar Al Dakheel moved to the US at 17 after receiving a full merit scholarship to the University of Miami. After graduating with a BA in Theatre Arts and a BS in Broadcast Journalism, he went on to earn his MFA at the USC School of Cinematic Arts where he immersed himself in all aspects of Filmmaking. Omar made "Jihad in Hollywood", featuring Werner Herzog, which won the Grand Jury Prize at Kuwait Film Festival. He also directed "al imam", which is planned to screen at Cannes Film Festival 2019. His latest narrative film "Ablution" premiered locally at Outfest Film Festival. Omar is based in Los Angeles. He is currently finishing his first feature film for Al Jazeera Documentary. His goal is to tell diverse stories with universal values that can bridge the gap between the East and the West.
