Basin of Attraction se presenta como un documental falso sobre la vida salvaje. La película cuestiona la relación sagrada con los objetos y los diferentes estatus que les confieren a lo largo de su vida. Objetos preciosos, exvotos del Museo Nacional Etrusco de Villa Giulia, ornamentos de iglesias o esculturas romanas, así como detritos contemporáneos se unen y evolucionan juntos en una especie de líquido amniótico. Por lo general, las formas inertes se han convertido en criaturas autónomas: estos seres compuestos interactúan, gesticulan, se atraen entre sí, reaccionan. Adoptando el punto de vista de los objetos, infundiéndoles una dosis de deseo, dándoles una apariencia de alma, el artista reconsidera la frontera entre lo vivo y lo no vivo.

Basin of Attraction presents itself as a fake wild-life documentary. The film questions the sacred relationship to objects and the different statuses conferred on them throughout their lives. Precious objects - votive offerings from the National Etruscan Museum in Villa Giulia - ornaments from churches or Roman sculptures, as well as contemporary detritus come together and evolve together in a kind of amniotic fluid. Usually inert forms have evolved into autonomous creatures: these composite beings interact, gesticulate, attract each other, react. By adopting the point of view of objects, by infusing them with a dose of desire, by giving them a semblance of soul, the artist reconsiders the border between the living and the non-living.

Jonathan Pêpe (nacido en Toulouse, 1987), estudió en la Escuela Nacional de Arte de Bourges y luego en Fresnoy, el Estudio Nacional de Arte Contemporáneo. Su investigación plástica en constante cambio puede materializarse en forma de dibujos, películas, videos, instalaciones digitales interactivas y robóticas. Expuso en particular en la Villa Vassilief, el Salon du dessin, el centro de arte Pair2 (Taiwán), el Palais de Tokyo, la Fundación EDF y el Instituto Francés de Budapest.

Jonathan Pêpe (born in Toulouse, 1987), studied at the National School of Art in Bourges then at Fresnoy, the National Studio of Contemporary Arts. His constantly changing plastic research can materialize in the form of drawings, films, videos, interactive digital and robotic installations. He exhibited in particular at the Villa Vassilief, the Salon du dessin, the Pair2 art center (Taiwan), the Palais de Tokyo, the EDF Foundation and the French Institute in Budapest.
