La elección del cardenal Pacelli como Papa en marzo de 1939 resultó incuestionable. Su prestigio espiritual e intelectual estaba bien asentado, con una experiencia diplomática contrastada por haber sido nuncio en Berlín y Secretario de Estado con Pío XI. Sin embargo, en 1963, pasados unos años de su muerte, su reputación vino a ponerse en duda tras el escándalo provocado por el estreno de la obra de teatro El Vicario, de Rolf Hochhuth. Este texto habla de las relaciones del Vaticano con Alemania durante la II Guerra Mundial y de la responsabilidad por la inacción del Papa Pío XII ante el Holocausto.

The election of Cardinal Pacelli as Pope in March 1939 was unquestionable. His spiritual and intellectual prestige was well established, with a proven diplomatic experience having been nuncio in Berlin and Secretary of State under Pius XI. However, in 1963, after a few years of his death, his reputation came to be questioned after the scandal caused by the premiere of the play The Deputy, by Rolf Hochhuth. This text speaks of the Vatican's relations with Germany during World War II and the responsibility for the inaction of Pope Pius XII versus the Holocaust.

RUFINO PAJARES (Madrid, 26/11/1966) Diplomado en Cinematografía y Artes Audiovisuales por la Escuela Superior de Artes y Espectáculos TAI, licenciado en Geografía e Historia por la Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia y postgraduado como Especialista en Documentales Históricos por el Departamento de Historia de la Comunicación Social de la Facultad de Ciencias de la Información de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Entre sus trabajos caben destacar: “Cuadernos del Matemático 20 años...” (2009), película documental que narra los orígenes y la trayectoria de esta prestigiosa revista de creación ilustrada; y “Sáhara, entre el cielo y la nada” (2006). Película documental sobre el conflicto de la antigua colonia española, seleccionada en el Festival de Cine del Sahara (Fisahra 2007) y en el Girona Film Festival (2008).

RUFINO PAJARES (Madrid, SPAIN, 11/26/1966) Graduated in Film and Media Arts from the School of Arts and Entertainment TAI. Also Bachelor in Geography and History from the UNED and postgraduate as Historical Documentaries Specialist in the Department of History of Social Communication School of Information Sciences at the Complutense University of Madrid. Among his works: "Journal of Mathematical 20 years ..." (2009), documentary film that chronicles the origins and history of this illustrated magazine and "Sahara, between heaven and Nothingness" (2006 ). Documentary film about the conflict in the former Spanish colony, selected in the Sahara Film Festival (Fisahra 2007) and Girona Film Festival (2008).
