Sinopsis / Synopsis

Una pareja vive en el campo, en Hungría. Un día la esposa sugiere que quiere cortar el árbol del jardín, al principio su petición parece casual, más bien un deseo algo obstinado, pero no pierde ocasión para preguntarlo una y otra vez. Al marido le encanta el árbol, aunque tiene en cuenta su deseo, se toma demasiado tiempo para decidir, perdiendo la única oportunidad de entender lo que su mujer estaba intentando decirle.

The story is about a couple who live in the countryside of Hungary. One morning the wife suggests to cut the tree in their garden. At first her request seems like a random, rather stubborn desire, but she wouldn’t miss one occasion to ask for it over and over again. The husband loves his tree, still he considers her wish. But making his decision takes awfully too long. He misses his only chance to understand what his wife was trying to say.

MÁRTON VÉCSEI (Lengyeltóti HUNGARY 04-12-1973) Es un reconocido director afincado en Budapest. Estudió pintura y dirección de cine en Hungarian Academy y en Marsella. Ha trabajado rodando un documental dos años en Transilvania. Después se mudó a Amsterdam dónde trabajo en BINGER Writers Lab. Ha participado varios trabajaos, tanto de ficción como documental en festivales de clase A, por ejemplo su cortometraje Werewolf (2007) compitió en Sarajevo y Warsaw. También trabaja como director para HBO Hungría y dirige anuncios regularmente.

MÁRTON VÉCSEI (Lengyeltóti HUNGARY 12-04-1973) is an established director based in Budapest. Even though he first graduated from the Hungarian Fine Art Academy as painter, then from the Hungarian Film Academy as director, he’s attracted by purity and simplicity when approaching a story. He’s been eager to develop his professional skills outside of his country: after studying at the Academy of Fine Arts, Marseille he moved to Transylvania for two years to work on a documentary, then he was living in Amsterdam while attending the BINGER Writers Lab. In the past decade he was actively working in both the fiction and the documentary genres, that brought him to a number of A-list film festivals. For instance his short Werewolf (2007) was in competition in Sarajevo and Warsaw, while he also released his 1st feature, the very provocative and dividing work of art, Diamond Club. He also works as a commissioned director for HBO Hungary and directs TV spots regularly. This allows him to work with the latest industrial technology and to keep the balance between his focused story driven attitude and his artistic, experimenting auteur self.
