“Venezuela [Sur] Realista” es un documental que reordena -como piezas de un rompecabezas- los momentos cruciales de la República Bolivariana de Hugo Chávez, sin dejarse seducir por la estridencia de los hechos. Las opiniones de políticos de primera línea, líderes comunitarios, intelectuales y periodistas se unen para acercarnos a la compleja realidad que vive Venezuela, mostrando el país de la gente.

"Venezuela [Sur] Realista" is a documentary that reorganizes, as the pieces of a jigsaw puzzle, the most crucial moments of the Hugo Chavez's Bolivarian Republic, without succumbing to the shrillness of the facts. The opinions of community leaders, worldwide political leaders, intellectuals and journalists, join together to bring us closer to the complex reality of Venezuela nowadays, by revealing the country of the people.

FRANCISCO GUAITA (Madrid, 1978) es un periodista español, licenciado en la Facultad de Comunicación de la Universidad de Navarra, España, que decidió recorrer el mundo para poder informar sobre él. Ha sido corresponsal en Estados Unidos, Rusia, El Salvador, Honduras, Georgia, Cuba, Guinea Ecuatorial y Venezuela. Su primer corto-documental “Viejas costumbres” ha recibido galardones en festivales nacionales e internacionales, especialmente en Iberoamérica. Su causa fundamental es la apuesta por un periodismo solidario, responsable y que reintegre el derecho a voz y voto a aquellos que la indiferencia y la injusticia silencian con absoluto cinismo.

FRANCISCO GUAITA (Madrid, 1978) is a Spanish journalist, who graduated from the Media Faculty at Navarra University, Spain, and decided to travel throughout the world to report on it. He has worked as the correspondent for Telesur in Washington, for various news agencies in El Salvador, Honduras, Georgia, Equatorial Guinea and Venezuela. He has received prizes such as the prestigious "Moors Cabot" prize awarded by Columbia University and his first documentary "Viejas costumbres" recieved awards in national and international festivals, especially in Iber-America. He strives to work for a type of journalism that is both responsible and supportive and which gives back to people who have been cynically silenced by indifference and injustice the right to speak out and to vote.
