Sinopsis / Synopsis

Yulí es una joven colombiana nacida en una familia de clase media en Medellín. Desde pequeña, ha estado intrigada y asustada por el bario que ha crecido en la montaña frente a su casa. Un encuentro despertará en ella una conciencia que le permitirá afrontar sus miedos y prejuicios.

YULÍ is a journey through the reflections of a young Colombian, who, influenced by the news media, struggles with her fears and prejudices toward a neighbourhood that has a bad reputation.

PATRICK DIONNE Y MIKI GINGRAS (Montréal, CANADA, 1975) producen obras a partir del medio fotográfico, YULÍ es su primera corto de animación fotográfica desde 1999. Al igual que los antropólogos visuales, exploran la relación entre los individuos y su entorno. Usan fotomontaje, secuencias y animaciones para crear mundos subjetivos. Sus creaciones artísticas promueven el diálogo entre las culturas del norte y del sur. Han tenido becas y residencias artísticas del gobierno de Quebec y de Canada. Sus obras fueron expuestas en Canada, America latina, Europa y Asia. Su reciente corto, YULÍ, ganó Mejor Película Experimental en Francia, Portugal, México y Canadá.

PATRICK DIONNE Y MIKI GINGRAS (Montréal, CANADA, 1975) have been producing works from the photographic medium since 1999, YULÍ is their first photographic animation short. Like visual anthropologists, they explore the relationship between individuals and their environment. They use photomontage, sequences, and animations to create subjective worlds. His artistic creations promote dialogue between northern and southern cultures. They have had scholarships and artist residencies from the Quebec and Canadian governments. His works have been exhibited in Canada, Latin America, Europe and Asia. His recent short, YULÍ, won Best Experimental Film in France, Portugal, Mexico and Canada.
